A friend of mine just sent the following...

my friend Deborah Phillips will be screening some of her work in NYC shortly, see the link below for details. I've seen some of her films, and they're definitely interesting! Her film MOSAïC combines images from synagogues and mosques in Spain, Iran, Turkey, and a few other countries which escape me now; she got a UNESCO grant for that work!

Please pass this on to anyone who might be interested.

-------- Original-Nachricht --------

i'll be screening MOSAïC (& 4 short films) in NY on June 27, at 7:30 pm at MAKOR, 35 W. 67th Street.

More info

it would be wonderful if a good crowd made to to the screening. i can promise all who attend that what they'll see is a far cry from what one usually sees in the cinema...

"- In "Mosaïc", Islamic and Jewish decorative and architectural motifs melt into images, drawings and photographs of intercultural sites - Samarkand, Bukhara, Fez, Casablanca, Andalusia, Isfahan, Cairo, Istanbul, etc. showing the convergence of cultures and interwoven spiritual traditions. This is an artistic project for peace, extending beyond national borders, without the need for words, a reminder of coexistence. The film expresses the hope that, one day, a renaissance will come...
