If you're in or around LA, the Los Angeles Korean International Film festival is on the way: www.lakiff.org. I saw the NY flavor of this (see posts below), and had a really good time - wish I could've seen more.

If you're in or around the East coast (or, for a couple of magical weeks, in Pordenone / Sacile, Italy), Donald Sosin will be accompanying silents on the following dates:

  • Oct. 2 7pm SEVEN CHANCES at Brooklyn Academy of Music
  • Oct. 6-14 Le Giornate del Cinema Muto, Pordenone and Sacile, Italy
    • Films include WAY DOWN EAST (with Joanna Seaton, voice), Norwegian films, Lon Chaney films, and the world premiere of two new silent shorts scored by DS: AGE OLD STORY, dir. David Kramer, and BORED GAMES, dir. Dafna Kory. Songs of the silent era sung by Joanna at each evening screening
  • Oct. 20 Comedy shorts in Copake, NY (Keaton, Lloyd, Arbuckle)
  • Oct. 21 Pordenone festival at Brooklyn Academy of Music
    • 8pm THE SCARLET LETTER (with Joanna Seaton)
  • Oct. 22 Pordenone festival at Brooklyn Academy of Music
    • 4pm GERMINAL
  • Oct. 24 6:30pm THE PHANTOM CHARIOT at Walter Reade, Lincoln Center
  • Oct. 28 THE KING OF KINGS (with Joanna Seaton and choir) at Virginia Film Festival, Charlottesville
  • Oct. 29 HIS PEOPLE at Virginia Film Festival
  • Nov. 17 7:30pm DIARY OF A LOST GIRL at Museum of the Moving Image, Astoria
  • Nov. 30 7pm KREUTZER SONATA at Brooklyn Academy of Music
I have a ticket to THE PHANTOM CHARIOT - it's something I've wanted to see for quite a while... and one day I'll be at the Pordenone Silent Film Festival.
