Bits and Bites: Quick Update

October 20th, 2007 (01:25 pm)

So, from Twitch (and I really need to find their new RSS feed): a short, slightly bizarre interview with Park Chan-wook.

He seems inclined to change the name of Evil Live to something else (awwww). But I like that it's

a very very sad and tragic melodrama about a vampire who has fallen madly in love with a married woman.

Even if it's not a traditional vampire story... well, maybe not, but I can live with that. It's Park Chan-wook.

He's also working on producing the French sci-fi graphic novel Le Transperceneige for Bong Joon-ho(!). English title is currently The Snow Piercer, and plans are to start shooting it in 2010.

Also - got the Kino catalog in the mail today.

Lots of things of interest; probably the biggest is that they're releasing a 2-DVD edition of Battleship Potemkin on 23 October, and Turner will be showing that reissue on Sunday, 21 October.

And lastly, the Pordenone Silent Film Weekend is going on at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. It's a short festival, so get there now.

I'm sorry I missed the recently rediscovered first Lon Chaney (Sr) film, Poor Jake's Demise. That would have been more than worth it, sleep-deprived or not.

Okay, back to finishing up reviews for you lot.
